The joy of discovery
Luis is your friend who lives in an art museum in Peru with his mother and sister. He loves sharing exciting and mysterious stories of the visiting exhibitions they have at the museum, and your students will love hearing you read the letters as you project images of the art in your classroom. Learning about art concepts and related history, language, and cultural ideas is made fun and memorable. “Letters from Luis” is written by an educator for educators and is most effective for students in first to fifth grade.
Each web-accessible lesson plan includes (1) a PDF of the letter/story with notations showing when to advance to the next slide in (2) a PowerPoint presentation featuring copyright-secured images. Also included is (3) a detailed lesson plan with correlation to Common Core Standards, and you will get a receipt (provided by PayPal or Amazon Pay, whichever you use to checkout). You can access your purchased stories whenever you want, and, if you purchase the 1, 3, 6, or 12-story package and purchase another 1 (free!), 3, 6, or 12-story package later, I will not replicate stories previously purchased. As copyright permissions are restrictive, I ask that you not share the stories with other instructors.
All of the works of art and the letters are carefully chosen and written to be fully school-appropriate. There is no violence, nudity, or overt religious connotations (given the nature of the visual arts, some subtle religiosity cannot be avoided, but it is handled in a completely neutral manner). This project can be enjoyed in all school settings by all audiences, regardless of race, gender orientation, or religion.
